Midnight fixtures swing with dust as patrons climb stairs to a pretty smile behind a desk requesting five dollars, what do you get for five dollars? A crayon and if you loose it you won’t get back in. In the other hand you get a Nerds candy crunch to stoke anticipation in your colorful head.
It’s Friday night at Toronto’s rumpus room of ghost town Texaco stations and livery stable tycoons, Rancho Relaxo. The Fallout Party is about to start with the best, most wonderous poison Toronto and Montreal can dish out. Psych-rock darlings VOLCANO, The Hoa Hoa’s, Postcards and The Easy Targets. Not once was there a better line up if only in some Jack Vance paperback suspended over an electric pond complete with cavernous slouch chairs and Thatch martian huts.
A friend snaps a photo capturing a reflection of us in a crooked room painted back thru a half-silver globe distorting and encapsulating the mind stretch effervescence of a night gone mad and I walk on stage…
Extra thanks to Bobby B over at It’s Not The Band I Hate It’s Their Fans for the photography and the review which you should go read. I’ll also be posting some video of VOLCANO shortly.
